“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” -Hebrews 10:24-25.
Blacknall is deeply committed to being a good neighbor in Durham, a city of both rich blessing and deep struggle.
For many years, Blacknall has supported organizations in Durham through prayer, hands-on service, financial giving, and hospitality. These ministries and agencies have taught us to love others with the Spirit of Christ, and for their faithfulness in the journey, we are very grateful.
These are the ministries and agencies with whom we are currently in relationship:
- Child Evangelism Fellowship
- Durham Crisis Response Center
- Durham Congregations in Action
- Durham Rescue Mission
- Genesis Home
- Habitat for Humanity
- Housing for New Hope
- Interfaith Hospitality Network
- Meals on Wheels
- Pregnancy Support Services
- Urban Hope
- Urban Ministries of Durham
- YO:Durham
We have also been learning with and from the churches and residents of the Walltown neighborhood, the residential community that is our closest neighbor. In particular, we are grateful for the companionship in ministry of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church.
Blacknalites have been involved intimately with these organizations in a variety of faithful and creative ways. We’ve shared just a few of these with you below. We hope you’ll consider how you can be involved, realizing the vision of the Church as an outpost of the Kingdom of God.
